Records of the Year 2006 I'm usually not that big on the newest thing in music, as there are so many things over 100 years of recorded music to listen to. Is there some reason why I'd give a fat rat's patoot over stuff that was put out in the last few months, when I could just as easily be listening to 40 year old Beatles records or 70 year old Robert Johnson recordings?
In 2006 though, it turns out that the answer is YES. There was a particularly good batch of hot new music last year. Heck, even Bruce Springsteen - whom I'd long since given up for creatively spent - turned in one of the best three or four albums of his distinguished career. Thus I have a fairly length write up on THE BEST SONGS OF 2006.
