ICLU protects our right to bilk the system Thank G-d the Indiana Civil Liberties Union is on the job! They have gotten a federal court to stop the state from any form of collecting for overpayments to thousands of food stamp recipients; they've even got a groovy little class action lawsuit going. [HERE for details.]
See, if the state screws up and overpays your welfare benefits, then that you have a right to that money. It would be a gross violation of your constitutional liberties to have to take a cut in your future benefits to pay the taxpayers back. We've got rights!
Funny how you hardly ever hear of this organization going to bat for taxpayers being reamed out by the IRS, much less for gun owners who do have actual legitimate constitutional issues. If you are a welfare rat, a terrorist, or just a garden variety murderer though, they'll be all over it.
Yet people wonder why so many true civil libertarians feel such contempt for this organization.
