Elvis Costello

For the November 2000 issue of Vanity Fair (issue 483), Elvis Costello submitted a list of 500 must-have albums, including pop music, jazz and European classical..  Some of these picks seem perverse to me, but you'd expect some kind of deviated preversions from Elvis, wouldn't you?

Still, he needs a half dozen Neil Young albums broke off up in him.  Maybe the first couple of them, questionably, but Freedom is certainly unworthy and Ragged Glory is just garbage - even if Elvis likes them.  Look, if you've got TWO Elvis Presley albums, but SIX Neil Young records, you've got life all messed up somewhere.

Plus, we get FOUR Grateful Dead albums - but no Tom T Hall or Sinead O'Connor. Plus, he's got not just one but TWO Iggy Pop albums, but no Van Halen.  Riiiiight.

I note a couple of interesting folks on the list that I don't even particularly think of as singers, Jimmy Durante and Groucho Marx.
