New CD Album Releases, 7-14-2009: The Dead Weather, David Bowie, Daughtry There's one promising new release this week, though I haven't had any opportunity to hear it yet. Horehound is the debut release by The Dead Weather. It has Alison Mosshart of The Kills and a dude from Queens of the Stone Age. But the reason all true music fans would need to check it out is the presence of El Presidente for Life Jack White, the world dominating mastermind of the White Stripes. Here he has reverted to his original instrument, the drums. The album was recorded at his Third Man Studio, and he produced, as well as songwriting and singing contributions.
The David Bowie VH1 Storytellers comes from his 1996 appearance,and includes a DVD with half again the songs on the CD.
