I wouldn't want to ask people to just give me money cause they like my website, but do please take a quick look at Barger's Boutique. You might find yourself a little something-something for 2 or 3 bucks that you just can't resist! Any of the round images you find around MoreThings will get you to an Amazon page to buy my stuff and help ol' Al keep the lights on.
Links
To explicitly state the obvious, these external links go to interesting and provocative websites, but they speak for themselves. I don't necessarily agree with anything they say - especially that no-goodnik Richard Marcus.

New Album Releases, 1-8-2008: Johnny Cash, Tori Amos, Reverend Horton Heat Still not a lot of major new releases in this first full week of the new year, but there is a newly released CD of performances from Johnny Cash's tv show (1969 - 1971). This would be pretty groovy, but much better would be the DVD. To that end, I'd recommend the two DVD Johnny Cash show set. That's an exceptionally good set, even besides being prime time Johnny. There are contemporary performers such as Neil Young singing "The Needle and the Damage Done" and Creedence doing "Bad Moon Rising" as well as, naturally, Mother Maybelle.
But then there's the priceless freaky duet combinations, such as Louis Armstrong and Johnny doing Jimmie Rodgers. My personal pick among many great duets there is "The Long Black Veil", with Joni Mitchell weeping over his bones while the night winds wail. It's really cute how he starts out to tell her some bawdy tale, but then cuts it off cause he shouldn't talk like that around "a nice girl like you." Then there's Johnny and Carl Perkins sitting in with Derek and the Dominoes on "It's Too Late."
This set is by far the most fascinating Johnny Cash video I've seen. Dig on some of the little backstage stories, such as June Carter having to lay down the law to young Linda Ronstadt that she was going to have to wear underwear if she's going on stage with her husband.
Reverend Horton Heat has an album Hi-Fi Stereo on the Yep Rock label. I really like the general psychobilly idea of Horton, except that I've never really been taken with any particular song.
In the way of re-issues, there are re-releases of a couple of live two-disc Tori Amos concerts from 2005.
