I wouldn't want to ask people to just give me money cause they like my website, but do please take a quick look at Barger's Boutique. You might find yourself a little something-something for 2 or 3 bucks that you just can't resist! Any of the round images you find around MoreThings will get you to an Amazon page to buy my stuff and help ol' Al keep the lights on.
Links
To explicitly state the obvious, these external links go to interesting and provocative websites, but they speak for themselves. I don't necessarily agree with anything they say - especially that no-goodnik Richard Marcus.

New album releases, week of 2-7-2006 BEST SONGS OF 2007 Not a hell of a lot of new music of interest. The main big new thing (and #3 at Amazon currently) is Jack Johnson's soundtrack album for the new Curious George movie. I'm lukewarm on this guy generally, but he does get points here for covering the White Stripes' "We Are Going to Be Friends." He loses them again, however, for re-working "3 Is a Magic Number" into three PC "r"s - reduce, reuse, recycle.
As to real music, there's a huge, intimidating 5 CD box set of Richard Thompson live material, covers, rarities, etc. It's absolutely not the place for the uninitiated. You probably should start with Shoot Out the Lights or perhaps Rumor and Sigh. However, this should be the motherlode for devoted fans, including commercial releases of some of the cute novelty songs he's done at live shows in recent years. This set has "Madonna's Wedding" and the particularly fun "Dear Janet Jackson." Plus, he's got several studio rehearsals of Who covers. With a big, fat book thrown in the package, that sounds pretty promising, right there.
