Screwed by Katrina compassion A sensible person recognizing practical reality would question the wisdom of a huge federal bailout to just largely completely not only rebuild New Orleans, which is just begging for more of the same in the future, but to make it bigger and better than ever- till we get another good hurricane a year or two from now and then start all over.
But whoa be unto the congressman who questions any of this. They will NOT be recognized as a compassionate conservative- to put it mildly.
As so often, Jonah Goldberg most cleverly states a basic common and correct perception of the current political landscape,
I can't help but think the chances of all the fun domestic stuff Bush was working - on tax reform, Social Security reform - will now be sacrificed in order to make sure every street corner in New Orleans is outfitted with a soft ice-cream machine and an ergonomic moving sidewalk.
