----
I wouldn't want to ask people to just give me money cause they like my website, but do please take a quick look at Barger's Boutique. You might find yourself a little something-something for 2 or 3 bucks that you just can't resist! Any of the round images you find around MoreThings will get you to an Amazon page to buy my stuff and help ol' Al keep the lights on.
Links
To explicitly state the obvious, these external links go to interesting and provocative websites, but they speak for themselves. I don't necessarily agree with anything they say - especially that no-goodnik Richard Marcus.

Hank Williams 80th birthday Hank Williams Sr was born 80 years ago today, on September 17, 1923.
He had a rough life, born dirt poor in Alabama, and sickly. Poor he could escape, but sickly he was stuck with. His chemical abuses were not simply emotional weakness and self-indulgence, however. He suffered lifelong back pain from spina bifida, which at least supposedly would have left him in a wheelchair within five years if he hadn't died on New Year's Day of 1953. Then there was the evil ex-wife, which didn't help.
Ah, but his pain was over 50 years ago. On the good side, a court just last week granted his children title to 150 unpublished recordings made for "Mother's Best Flower Show" in 1951. This clears the way for their commercial release.
He may not have had much happiness in this life, but he was the songwritingest sonofabitch in the history of country music.
Anyway, as he put it in my favorite of his songs, "I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive" anyway.
