200th anniversary of the Louisiana Purchase 200 years ago, on April 30, 1803 the United States made the Louisiana Purchase for $15 million, which about doubled the size of the country.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but this was a pretty big deal historically that barely gets mentioned now.
That's 828,000 square miles at 4 cents per acre. Thank you, Frenchy.
